Katie Ekberg
Violin, Viola & Suzuki Violin
Katie Ekberg, a Twin Cities native, is an active violinist, violist, and teacher. She began studying violin at the age of nine, and played in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony Orchestras throughout high school.
A teacher for over ten years, Katie has held positions at the Lawrence Academy of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin, as well as the Community Music School, and Newark Performing Arts, both in Newark, Delaware, teaching both Suzuki and traditional style lessons. She has also taught at the Superior String Alliance Summer Camp in Marquette, Michigan. She has registered Books 1 through 3 of Suzuki Violin Teacher Training.
She received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in French. She held principle violin positions with the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra in addition to performing with the Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra and the Marquette Symphony Orchestra. A passionate chamber musician, Katie was a member of the Viridian String Quartet who were winners of the Wisconsin Public Radio's Neale Silva Young Artists Competition and performed live on WPR. She has also been a student at the Meadowmount School of Music.
Katie went on to complete her Master of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Delaware, where she was the Graduate Violin Teaching Assistant. While in Delaware, she performed with the Newark Symphony Orchestra.
